Crystal Sky of Yesterday

Crystal Sky of Yesterday

The air was wrapped with
loitering heat and tranquility.
In one summer’s day,
there was no wind
shuttling through my sides;
there was no rain
soaking the asphalt roads.

A pair of sneakers
covered in damp mud
stepped on pedals
covered with thin dust.
The bicycle wheel was turning,
turning forward
this little good time.

The warm soft breeze
quietly carried
my slightly drifting hair.
I tidied up
by fingers
but picked up
a fallen petal.

Occasionally looking up,
glancing at
low-flying sparrows
lingering among the trees
and
curve-passing butterflies
wandering through the plants.

Those whispering cicadas
hiding in the dark, unlike
those twittering cardinals
never stand still and
never hesitate to
soar into the
boundless azure sky.

I couldn’t help
squinting,
trying to chase
their fading trace.
That day,
sunbeams shined
extra violent.

Yet,
when white clouds floating above
sometimes gather
sometimes scatter
transformed into different shapes,
the corners of my mouth
lifted gently.

At the moment,
my eyes were surging with
scene after scene of
ordinary beauty.
Couldn't wait to freeze
each of those
harmonious pictures.

Thinking in my heart:
may have
a sky
a cloud
a bird
stay
for me;

Thinking in my heart:
may will
look back
aftertaste
missing
yesterday’s blue sky that
as precious as crystal.
